Go on THE BIG OE, as recorded in letters, diaries, scrapbooks, photos and souvenirs collected by travelling New Zealanders in this memory-triggering exhibition.
Featuring the experiences of Kiwis on their 'Big OE' the exhibitions examines our local history of intrepid explorers. Ever since European exploration opened the world to Maori travellers, New Zealanders have been travelling. The term "OE" (Overseas Experience) was coined in the 1970s but the desire of New Zealanders to see the world is not new.
The travellers’ stories and souvenirs on exhibition will inspire, as well as trigger memories of our own journeys.
While you're there check out Alternative Resources, an exhibition from students at Elam School of Fine Arts.
