Studio One:
Create your own piece of jewellery inspired by traditional Solomon Island body adornments with sister artists Molana and Reina Sutton in this drop-in workshop. Explore a contemporary focus as the duo share their expertise with participants and guide you through the evolution of Pacific jewellery in New Zealand.
Molana explains that the natural resources used for making jewellery in the Solomon Islands are impossible to source in New Zealand, so they work with modern materials such as calico, wire, card and thread. "Our traditions and culture are alive and we want to contribute towards showcasing them. Thank iu tumas fo kam lukim culture blo mifala."
