Aotea Centre Digital Art Live
Uncover feathered inhabitants together in Jenna Gavin and Matthew Martin’s interactive artwork, opening on White Night with a special appearance from dance group Bodyphonics. Birds of a Shadow is a playful installation inviting family, friends and strangers to work together to discover beautifully crafted bird images on the screen.
Match your silhouette against the bird’s shadow and the bird will reveal itself.
The artists’ inspiration for the work was shadow puppets, which encourage people to use their bodies in a playful manner. The images of the birds were chosen to showcase the uniqueness and the diversity of our New Zealand ecosystem.
Birds of a Shadow is inspired by Fale Ula, a new site-specific installation by Niki Hastings-McFall commissioned by Auckland Arts Festival 2015 and available to view 4-22 March in the TimeOut Festival Garden.
This exhibition is brought to you by Digital Art Live, a collaboration between Colab/AUT University and Auckland Live.
